Vibrant
Portraits, figurative works and occasional landscapes using strong, vibrant colors

The Moraga Art Gallery's new exhibit "Vibrant" will be running from March 22-June 3.

T
he featured artist for this month is Robert Wahrhaftig, a local painter of portraits, figurative works and occasional landscapes using strong, vibrant colors.  He has studied under Pam Glover of Orinda and Lin Fischer.

Bob tries to show the character of a person, not merely a precise representation.  He draws his inspiration from the works of Matisse, Vlaminch, Klee and more recently, from Bay Area figurative artists such as Joan Brown and David Park.  Bob says, "If I can, via portraits create something that approaches that explosion of color and emotion, and in some small way, capture the essence of a person I will be more than satisfied."

His work can be seen at the Moraga Art Gallery, at the Frank Bette Art Center in Alameda, and at the Paint Palette in Walnut Creek.
