Bio for Martha McLaren
|
My paintings reflect a quietness and serenity I believe we all look for in our daily lives. I paint to please myself and feel my work comes from my heart and inner spirit. The true pleasure comes from the artistic journey.
Part of that journey was earning a Bachelor of Arts Degree from the University of North Texas. Since moving to California, I have studied with Bay Area artists Peggy Doughty, Pam Della, Van Waldron and Tom Hughes. I have had the delight of not only painting with well known "plein aire" artist, Pam Glover, but her friendship as well. I have expanded my artistic education through life drawing with Sherry Kwint-Cattoche. I have shown my work with several groups and had solo shows some including: The Glover Group, Orinda Library, Martinez Civic Arts, Epperson Gallery, Gualala Art Center, Danville Fine Arts Gallery, Arts Benicia, Moraga Chamber of Commerce, Haute Stuff, Two Crows and Orinda Community Center.
I am proud to be one of the original members of the Moraga Art Gallery.
